About me
Jiawei Sheng is a tenure-track associate professor and master’s supervisor at the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IIE, CAS). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) in 2023, and was selected for the IIE Outstanding Talent Program (Class B) and the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (Class C). He has long been engaged in research on knowledge engineering, natural language processing, and graph data mining, with his main research interest in knowledge augmentation and trustworthy utilization for large language models and agents.
He has published more than 40 papers in CCF-A/B international top-tier conferences and journals, with over 1,600 Google Scholar citations, one ESI highly cited paper, and 10 granted or filed patents; some of his techniques have been applied to the Kwai recommendation platform. He has led the NSFC Youth Project, National R&D Sub-program, and Kwai school-enterprise collaboration projects, with nearly 3 million RMB in funding as PI, and participated as a core member in the CAS Strategic Priority Research Program and the NSFC General Program, among others. At UCAS, he teaches the graduate core course “Cross-modal Intelligent Computing and Its Applications”. He serves as a committee member of the CCF Natural Language Processing Special Committee, an alternate committee member of the CIPS Youth Working Committee, and an expert of the Beijing Information Industry Association. He also serves as a PC member for more than 10 top international conferences and journals, as an AC/SPC for ACL/ARR, AAAI, IJCAI, etc., and as a SAC for COLING, etc. As team leader, he led his team to first place and the Technical Innovation Award in the evaluation tasks at CCKS 2020 and 2021. He also received the Zhuli Yuehua Outstanding Doctoral Scholarship of CAS and the Outstanding Graduate Award of IIE, among others.
Research Interests
His research spans the broad areas of knowledge engineering, natural language processing, and graph data mining, with particular interests in knowledge augmentation and trustworthy utilization for large language models and agents, focusing on the following directions:
- Knowledge Modeling and Representation: ontology modeling, knowledge graph representation, graph machine learning, etc.
- Knowledge Fusion and Reasoning: entity alignment, cross-domain recommendation, knowledge graph reasoning, knowledge-augmented LLM generation, etc.
- Agent-oriented Knowledge Application: agentic memory, agentic skills, domain agents, etc.
His long-term vision is to build deployable trustworthy AI systems that serve real-world application needs. He hopes to keep producing interesting, useful, and better research. He strives to remain a hands-on researcher rather than merely a research manager. Feel free to reach out and collaborate. :-)
